Position Title: Youth Pastor/Minister

Position Overview
We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Youth Pastor/Minister to lead and disciple middle and high school students. This individual will provide spiritual guidance, develop engaging programs, and support students in developing and deepening their relationship with Jesus Christ. Position begins August 1, 2026. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the role is filled.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Spiritual Leadership:
- Develop a vision for the youth and children ministries and serve as a spiritual role model.
- Create a safe and nurturing environment for youth to grow in their relationship with Jesue Christ.
2. Teaching & Discipleship:
- Develop and implement youth programs, retreats, and events.
- Lead Bible study sessions and facilitate fellowship during weekly Friday gatherings.
- Lead weekly Sunday Worship services of youth and elementary school students.
- Provide pastoral counseling, mentorship, and discipleship to youth.
- Preach in combined Sunday worship service (with adults) once each month.
3. Outreach:
- Participate in church events on special occasions (e.g. gospel gatherings, Thanksgiving and Christmas celebrations) to coordinate and lead youth programs.
- Develop strategies to connect to unchurched youth in the community.
4. Administration & Leadership Development:
- Train and develop student leaders.
- Coordinate adult volunteers to support the youth ministry as necessary.
- Maintain effective communication with parents, build essential connection through family visitation or family-oriented activities.
- Work closely with the church leadership team.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Calling: A clear sense of being called to serve the Lord.
- Faith and character: meets the requirements outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1-7.
- Alignment with Church Doctrine: conforms to the Declaration of Faith of the church (see Article 4 of the Bylaws of OCCC).
- Language and culture skills: English (Primary); some exposure to Chinese language and culture is desirable but not required. Candidate with experience in cross-cultural ministry, or second generation Asian-American ministry is beneficial.
- Experience and skills: Pastoral or leadership experience with North American teenagers and children; understanding of the challenges faced by youth in North America; ability to effectively connect with students and parents.
- Educational background: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited Christian college in ministry, biblical studies, theology or a master’s degree from an accredited seminary in divinity, ministry, biblical studies, or related disciplines.
- Background Check: Ability to pass background check
Compensation and Benefit:
Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Work hours and schedules:
Expected 20 hours per week. Friday evenings and Sunday mornings are required.

About our church:
Olympia Chinese Christian Church is a non-denominational, multi-generational, family orientated congregation that conducts services in Mandarin Chinese and English. We currently serve approximately 10-15 youth, with the elementary class comprising about 15-20 students, taught separately. Additionally, we have some cross-culture families in which spouses are native English speakers.
